Mighty Networks vs Thinkific: community with courses or courses with a community

Thinkific leads on course selling, Mighty Networks leads on the community around it

Pick Thinkific if the course is the product and discussion is a side room, and Mighty Networks if the group is the product and courses are one activity inside it. Thinkific's entry plan is called Basic, followed by Start, Grow and Plus. Mighty's entry plan is Launch at $79 a month on annual billing ($950 a year on its pricing page) or $95 month to month per its help center, as read on 3 October 2026.

We could not read Thinkific's US dollar prices today. Its pricing page served euro figures to our connection, so no Thinkific plan price is quoted here. The page did show that annual billing is offered at a 25% saving and that Basic, Start and Grow each list 10,000 current students. Entry plans compared: Launch and Thinkific Basic

Thinkific's help center lists the third-party gateway fee as 5% on Basic, 2% on Start and 1% on Grow, waived after $1 million in yearly sales. Its pricing page puts Thinkific Payments processing at 2.9%.

Course tools Thinkific has, community tools Mighty Networks has

Thinkific only: selling tools built around a course catalog. The Basic plan lists order bumps, gifting, coupon codes and abandoned-cart emails, with assignments, completion certificates and payment plans from Start. It also sells standalone digital downloads and coaching sessions as products. A branded mobile app is a listed add-on at $199 a month.

Mighty Networks only: where Thinkific Basic stops at 5 Spaces and 5 live events, Launch has no cap on Spaces and adds chat with threads, private messaging, a people explorer, polls, streaks, points and leaderboards. Launch also lists quizzes, drip and cohort courses, automatic badges and embedding SCORM content, which Thinkific's table reserves for its top plan. Whether that makes Mighty a learning management system is a separate question, set out in the page on Mighty Networks as an LMS.

Who each platform fits

• Thinkific fits a trainer or academy selling several courses to students who buy, finish and leave, and who needs checkout upsells, certificates and graded assignments.
• Mighty Networks fits an existing club, network or membership that wants to add a course or two for members without limiting how many subgroups and events it can run.
• If you need committees, chapters and member chat, Mighty is the closer match. If you need a catalog of paid courses with a discussion area attached, Thinkific is. Write the needs down first with the requirements brief.

Moving students and members between Thinkific and Mighty Networks

1. Export from Thinkific: in the Admin Dashboard open Users, then All Users, set the visible columns and choose Export. This is available on Basic and above. Thinkific emails a link to the CSV, and only visible columns are included.
2. Invite into Mighty: upload the CSV on Launch or higher. Email is the only required column. Invitations go out 50 at a time and a file can hold 100,000 records.
3. Export from Mighty: download the Excel member list from Admin, Members, Member List. You can also pull the list for one Space or one paid plan.
4. Import into Thinkific: Smart Importer accepts CSV, XLS or XLSX with email, first name and last name, up to 50,000 users per file, and can enroll them in products in the same step. Its help page lists it for Grow and higher plans.

Course content does not move by member file in either direction. Lessons are rebuilt by hand or handled by Mighty's migration service, offered from the Growth Plan. Map lessons to their new home with the content map before you start.
