Patreon charges a share of income, Mighty Networks charges a subscription
Patreon is free to start and takes 10% of what you earn, while Mighty Networks charges a fixed plan price and a 2% transaction fee. Patreon's pricing page states the 10% and adds payment processing, currency conversion, payout fees and taxes on top. Its help center says the 10% standard plan applies to any creator page published after August 4, 2025, and lists processing for US dollar payouts at 2.9% plus $0.30 per card payment. There is no monthly or annual plan to buy.
Mighty's Launch Plan is $79 a month on annual billing, shown as $950 a year on its pricing page, or $95 month to month per its help center. All figures are as read on 3 October 2026.
The income level where Mighty Networks becomes cheaper
Compare each platform's own cut, leaving card processing aside. Patreon keeps 10%. Mighty keeps 2% plus the plan price. The gap is 8 points, so the plan price is covered when 8% of monthly member income equals it.
- On annual billing ($79 a month): $79 divided by 0.08 is about $990 a month in member income.
- On monthly billing ($95 a month): $95 divided by 0.08 is about $1,190 a month.
- Example: 100 members paying $20 is $2,000 a month. Patreon's platform fee is $200. Mighty's is $40 plus $79, so $119.
Below a few hundred dollars a month, Patreon costs less and carries no fixed bill in a quiet month. The transition cost page shows what else to budget beyond fees.

What each one does that the other does not
Patreon only: it takes on chargebacks, fraud and most tax collection, needs no Stripe setup, and offers podcast tools with RSS distribution and a Spotify integration. It also runs creator discovery inside Patreon. For a creator whose supporters mainly want to fund the work and receive posts, that is the whole job.
Mighty Networks only: members can join private groups, attend events, take a structured course and find each other through profiles and a people explorer, on a web address and brand that are yours. Against Patreon the point is who the room belongs to. A Patreon page is a creator publishing to fans. A Mighty Network is members meeting each other, with you as host. It runs on the web and in iOS and Android apps, with your own branded apps sold only through Mighty Pro.
Who should stay on Patreon and who should move
- Stay on Patreon if you are an artist, podcaster or video creator with supporters who pay to back you, income is under about $1,000 a month, or you do not want to manage tax and payment disputes.
- Choose Mighty Networks if you run a club, a study group or a membership where the value is the other members, you want courses and events in the same place, and income is steady enough to cover a fixed bill.
Taking a Patreon membership to Mighty Networks, or back
- On Patreon, open Creator studio, then Audience, to reach the Relationship manager. Filter by paid, free, active or canceled, choose the columns, and click the CSV button. The file follows your filters.
- On Mighty's Launch Plan or higher, upload that CSV as invitations. Only the email address is required. Invites send in batches of 50.
- Tell paid members in advance that they will set up payment again on the new site. Patreon's help center documents exporting contacts, but we found nothing there on transferring active paid memberships to another platform.
- Going the other way, Mighty exports members as an Excel file. Patreon's help pages describe no bulk member import that we could find, so you would email people a link to your Patreon page.
Run both side by side for a billing cycle. The cutover checklist lists the order of steps.
