How to use Mighty Networks as a host or as a member

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-03

Quick answerHosts start a 14-day free trial, follow the Setup Checklist, build Spaces and send invites. Members join from a landing page or invite link, create an account and can then install the free app.

How to use Mighty Networks: two different starting points

To use Mighty Networks as a host, you start a free trial, set up your community in a browser and invite people. To use it as a member, you open a landing page or an invite link, create an account and then sign in on the web or in the app. The two paths share almost no steps, so this page covers each in turn, using the official help center.

What a host needs first: an email address and a desktop browser. The pricing page says the trial runs 14 days with no credit card, and that every trial runs on the Growth Plan. After the trial you pick a paid plan. As read on 3 October 2026, Launch costs $79 a month billed annually or $95 billed monthly. The pricing guide covers the other plans.

Host setup steps from the Mighty Networks help center

  1. Start the trial. The sign-up flow asks who you want to bring together, then names the community, generates branding and creates a basic structure. The help center says this takes about a minute.
  2. Work through the Setup Checklist. It sits inside the community. You can reopen it at Admin, then Get Started.
  3. Fill in the basics. At Admin, General, Basics, set the name, tagline and description. A Suggestions button drafts these from your stated purpose.
  4. Create Spaces. A Space is a room for one group or job. You create each from a template, such as a feed, a chat or a course.
  5. Decide who can get in. A community can be invite-only, open to anyone, or reached through plans that you sell or give away.
  6. Publish a landing page. Go to Admin, Marketing, Landing Pages. Editing works on the web only.
  7. Invite people. Go to Admin, Members, Invite. Send email invites, upload a list or copy the share link.

If you would rather be led through it, the help center points to a free seven-day build challenge and a weekly live introduction event. Before step four, it helps to write a community inventory so the Spaces match what your group already does.

Invite rules a host should know before sending

Invite behavior per the Mighty Networks help center, read on 3 October 2026
RuleDocumented detail
Email invitesOne-time use. The link stops working once that address joins.
CSV uploadAvailable on Launch and higher. Email is required, names are optional.
BatchingSent 50 at a time. Larger batches need Scale and a request to support.
Largest file100,000 records per CSV
RemindersUp to three, after 3, 10 and 30 days
ExpiryUnused invites expire after four weeks
RolesYou can invite someone as a member, a host or a moderator

For a very large list, the help center suggests sending your share link through an outside email tool instead of the built-in invites.

How to join Mighty Networks as a member

  1. Open the link you were given. On a landing page you will see Sign In, plus Join Now if plans are on offer, or Join the Waitlist if a waitlist is open. An invite link shows Join.
  2. Create an account. Sign up with Google, Facebook, LinkedIn or Apple, or enter your first name, last name and email and set a password.
  3. Answer any questions. A host can ask questions and review requests. If approval is needed, you get an email once you are approved.
  4. Buy a plan if one is required. Paid communities show the plan on the landing page.
  5. Add a profile photo. You are prompted right after signing up.
  6. Install the app. Search for Mighty Networks in the App Store or Google Play, then choose Sign In. Push alerts are off until you enable them.

Invite-only communities do not appear in search, so a member needs a direct invitation. More detail on devices is in our page on the Mighty Networks app.

Worked example: inviting a 400-member Facebook group

Say you run a 400-person group and have collected every email address with consent. On Launch you upload one CSV with 400 rows. Mighty Networks sends it in eight batches of 50, so some invites sit as queued in the Sent Invites tab for a while. Anyone who ignores the first email gets reminders on day 3, day 10 and day 30. The original invite expires after four weeks, so anyone still missing by then needs a fresh invite or the share link.

That timeline is why a move works better with a fixed date. Our guide to moving a Facebook group sets one out.

The setup mistake the help center warns about

The clearest trap in the documentation is a mismatch between your access setting and your invite. If the community is reached through plans, the help center says to invite people to the plan, from Admin, Plans, then the Visibility & Sharing tab. Inviting them to the network instead is meant for invite-only and open communities.

A second trap affects members. A community set so that only invited members can find it will not show in the app's search. Those members must first log in through a mobile browser and tap View in App. Tell them this in the invite message, or they will assume the community does not exist.
