Is Mighty Networks a good fit for nonprofits?
Mighty Networks fits a nonprofit that wants one private place for members, volunteers or program participants to talk, attend events and take training, and that has at least about $80 a month to spend. The job is usually moving people off a Facebook group or scattered email threads into a space the organization controls, with a member list it can export.
It is a weaker fit for a small all-volunteer group with no software budget, and for any program that handles patient records.
Mighty Networks nonprofit pricing: is there a discount?
No nonprofit discount is published for the Explore, Launch, Scale or Growth plans on the pricing page or in the help center pages we read as read on 3 October 2026. The only mention is on the Mighty Pro page for nonprofits, which refers to exclusive nonprofit pricing without giving a figure. Mighty Pro is the custom-quoted tier with your own branded apps. That page's calculator displays tiers named Mighty Pro Basic at $17,000 a year and Mighty Pro Essential at $48,000 a year, so expect a Pro quote to be far above the standard plans.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Team size | Livestream viewers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Launch | $95 a month | $950 a year | 3 hosts, 10 moderators | 100 |
| Scale | $215 a month | $2,150 a year | 5 hosts, 15 moderators | 200 |
| Growth | $425 a month | $4,250 a year | 10 hosts, 100 moderators | 1,000 |
Ask sales in writing whether any discount applies to a standard plan before you budget for one. The pricing breakdown explains each plan in full.
Features that serve a nonprofit, and the plan each needs
- Private Spaces per chapter or program. Unlimited on every plan, with invite-only access available.
- Events with RSVPs and livestreams. On Launch, including a Zoom integration.
- Volunteer training. Courses with quizzes and automatic badges are on Launch; issuing a certificate document needs a Zapier workflow on Scale or a file you host.
- Member records you own. Export of names and email addresses from Launch up.
- Dues or paid programs. Subscriptions and one-time payments through Stripe, plus free access plans for people who should not pay.
- Security paperwork for funders. SOC 2 Type II is listed on every plan. A signed data processing agreement is listed only for Mighty Pro.
- Connecting a CRM or email tool. Zapier and the Admin API start on Scale.
Write your needs down first with the requirements brief so the plan choice follows from them.
Worked example: a 400-member association on the Launch Plan
Take an association with 400 members, a staff lead, two board hosts and eight volunteer moderators. That is 3 hosts and 8 moderators, inside Launch's limit of 3 and 10. Paid annually, the plan is $950.
The association charges $10 a month in dues to 200 of those members, or $2,000 a month. Mighty's 2% fee takes $40. Stripe's processing, which the help center puts at typically 2.5% to 5%, takes $50 to $100. Monthly running cost is therefore about $79 for the plan plus $90 to $140 in fees.
The pressure point is the monthly town hall. Launch allows 100 viewers per livestream. If 150 members attend, the choices are an Engagement Boost, listed in the help center at $35 a month for 500 viewers, or the Scale Plan at $2,150 a year for 200 viewers. The boost is the cheaper fix at $420 a year. A free community with no dues pays no transaction fees at all, only the plan.
The two limitations that matter most to nonprofits
There are two. First, HIPAA: the help center states that HIPAA compliance is not offered, so health charities should keep clinical information out and should not use it for case management. Second, the refund rule: no refunds are given for unused time, so an annual payment approved by a board cannot be recovered if the move fails. Pay monthly through a pilot first.
Donation tools are named on the Mighty Pro nonprofit page, but we found no documentation of how donations work on standard plans, so do not assume a donation button exists there.
When a nonprofit should choose something else
- No budget: Discourse has a free hosted plan and its pricing page states a 50% nonprofit discount on its Pro and Business plans, which are $100 and $500 a month, with proof of tax-exempt status.
- Alumni or membership association needing a directory and governance across chapters: Hivebrite, from $895 a month billed annually.
- The group works fine where it is: read the case for not moving before spending anything.
